Information We Collect

Visiting the website

We count page visits with GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly statistics service. It records which pages are viewed, the referring site, and general browser and screen-size information. It does not use cookies, does not store your IP address, and does not build a profile of you.

Members-only pages

Newsletters and some Scout photos are protected by a shared members password. When it's entered, your browser keeps a temporary session cookie so the pages stay unlocked until you close the browser. No personal information is stored with it.

Board of Review volunteer sign-up

When you sign up to help with a Board of Review, we collect your first and last name and email address so the Advancement Team can coordinate with you. Volunteers' first names may appear on the sign-up page so others can see which spots are filled; email addresses are never shown publicly.

Emails and forms

If you email a troop address, we use your message only to respond. Reimbursement requests are submitted through Jotform and go to the troop Treasurer.

Webmaster accounts

Adults and Scouts who help maintain the site have an admin account with their name, email address, and, for Scouts, an optional parent or guardian email that receives copies of account emails. To keep the site secure, the admin area records a log of changes and sign-ins, including the time and IP address. The log is kept for up to two years and is visible only to troop webmasters.

Photos of Scouts

Photos from troop activities are posted following Scouting America's youth protection guidelines. Photos that show Scouts clearly can be marked "members only," which blurs them for the public. Eagle Scouts are listed by first name and last initial. If you'd like a photo of your Scout removed or made members-only, email committeechair@troop1128.org and we'll take care of it promptly.

Google Drive Photo Import

Troop webmasters can import event photos from Google Drive into the photo gallery. When a webmaster chooses this option:

• They sign in with their own Google account and pick photos using Google's file picker.
• The website can access only the specific files they select (the Google Drive "drive.file" permission). It cannot see, browse, or change anything else in their Google Drive.
• Selected photos are copied into the troop photo gallery, the same as a regular upload. Nothing is written back to Google Drive.
• The temporary Google access is used only in the webmaster's browser during that session. It is not stored on our server.

The Troop 1128 website's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We do not use Google user data for advertising, sell it, or share it with anyone. You can remove the website's access at any time from your Google Account permissions page.

Services From Other Companies

Some pages include content from other services, which have their own privacy policies: Google Calendar and Google Maps (calendar and meeting location), Jotform (reimbursements), GoatCounter (visit statistics), and jsDelivr (delivers the site-search tool). Troop email is hosted by Google Workspace.

How We Use and Share Information

Information is used only to run troop activities and this website, and is seen only by the troop leaders and volunteers who need it. We do not sell, rent, or trade personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.
